What is Stroller Strides?

Stroller Strides is a total fitness program that moms can do with their babies. It includes power walking-jogging and intervals of strength and body toning exercises using exercise tubing, the stroller, and the environment. Taught by certified instructors, it's a great workout for any level of exerciser.

What do I need to bring for Stroller Strides classes?

We suggest athletic shoes, a towel or mat for our ground exercises and plenty of water. For outdoor classes, please bring a hat and/or sunblock. For Stroller Strides, you just need you, your baby and the stroller. Just about any stroller will do, so long as it's not prone to tipping. You do not have to have a jogger. Stroller Strides fitness strollers are available at stores nationwide and online.

How long are the Stroller Strides workouts?

The workouts are 1-hour unless otherwise noted. The class is usually set up with a 5-minute warm up followed by a 45-minute interval training class with the stroller that includes cardio and strength exercises. The last 10 minutes is for abs and stretching.

How old does my baby have to be?

We recommend waiting until your baby is at least 6 weeks of age to begin Stroller Strides classes. They can take classes up to any age so long as they still enjoy a ride in the stroller.

What do I do if my baby gets fussy during class?

Our first priority during Stroller Strides classes is the happiness of your baby. Tend to your baby first. We stop every few minutes for body toning, so you can always catch up with us if you get behind. Our instructors will do their very best to make the class enjoyable for both you and your baby!

If I am pregnant or just recently gave birth, do I need a physicians release to participate in class?

If you are currently pregnant, we welcome you to participate in Stroller Strides as long as your doctor has approved you to exercise. We ask that you listen to your body and take frequent breaks as needed.

If you recently gave birth, you must be AT LEAST 6 weeks postnatal before attending first class, but a physicians release is not required. If you are LESS THAN 6 weeks postnatal, a physicians release is required before participating in your first class.

What if the weather in Austin is bad?

If AISD (Austin Independent School District) is DELAYED or CLOSED, we will NOT have class. In the event of inclement weather (rain, high winds, temperature or wind chill below 40 degrees), all classes are relocated to our indoor location.

Notice and details of which indoor location we will have class will be posted on our facebook page at least 1 hour before regularly scheduled class time.

What social activities for mom and baby do you offer?

FIT4MOM Downtown Austin has FREE playgroups that anyone with children ages newborn to 5y is welcome to join...you do not have to be an active member of FIT4MOM to participate.

For children, we schedule various activities for both babies and tots...from indoor physical play at iPLAY and Catch Air, to playground dates, arts & crafts, playdates at members homes, tummy time, petting zoos, story times, and more!

For moms - we plan moms only events...dinner out, yoga on a Sunday morning, movie nights, and more!
